A medical certificate is an enhanced medical physical, performed by an FMCSA certified medical professional. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulation 391.41(a)(1)(i) requires that “a person subject to this part of the regulations must not operate a commercial motor vehicle unless he or she has been declared mentally and physically able to do so”.
