Every moving violation type has a point value assigned by the department. Each time a crash or driving violation is posted to the driver record the department’s software system shall scan back for a period of 24 months (about 2 years) from the post date of violation to determine whether the driver has accumulated 12 or more points within a 12-month period to warrant a proposed suspension notice.
All listed violations and their points can be found here: List of points.
